Miniature Raglans

miniature raglans The instructions have been rewritten to make them easier to follow. Stripes are easy to add and by knitting the body longer, it's a dress. Cables look good too but might want to add a stitch to each section you add cables to. If you prefer a finer yarn, use smaller needles and add a few more increase rows (and of course the stitch count in the sleeves and body).

Materials worsted weight yarn (I used LionBrand WoolEase), dbl pointed needles(#4 or 5), 4 markers.

inc 1: any increase you prefer, knit in front and back of stitch, YO, invisisible
seam: inc 1, marker, inc 1

Directions Cast on 24 st.Connect and work in K1,P1 ribbing for 3 rounds. Note:You can let the tail mark the beginning of a round.

There are a total of 4 increase rows. The increases are worked raglan style, giving 4 seams lines. You will be increasing one stitch on either side of the seam. This will give you a total of an increase of 8 stitches each increase row.

  • First increase round:inc 1, knit 2,inc 1, knit 6(front), inc 1, knit 2,inc 1, knit 2(sleeve), inc 1, knit 2,inc 1, knit 6(back), inc 1, knit 2,inc 1, knit 2(sleeve)
    Note: if you do inc by knitting in the front and back of stitch, change each *inc 1, knit 2,inc 1 * to knit in front and back of next 2 stitches. For ease, I will refer to set of increases as "work seam"

  • The second increase row: knit in the front and back of stitch, knit 8(front), work seam, knit 4(sleeve), work seam,knit 8(back), work seam, knit 4(sleeve), knit in front and back of seam.

  • The third increase row: knit in the front and back of stitch , knit 10(front), work seam, knit 6(sleeve), work seam,knit 10(back), work seam, knit 6(sleeve), knit in front and back of seam.

  • The fourth increase row: knit in the front and back of stitch , knit 12(front), work seam, knit 8(sleeve), work seam,knit 12(back), work seam, knit 8(sleeve), knit in front and back of seam.

  • Divide for Sleeve Next round: Knit across 16 st.(front),slip to holder. Work sleeve as follows:
    • knit across 12 st.
    • Work flat for 1O rows.
    • Decrease 1 st at beginning end of next row
    • Purl
    • Work 2 rows in K1,P1 ribbing, bind off
    Knit across back and work second sleeve as first.
  • Body Distribute the remaining 32 st across dpn. Work 11 rnds.Optional: Decrease Rnd for a closer fit: *K2, K2tog* around.(28 st) Work 2 rows in k1,P1 ribbing and bind off
  • Sew up sleeve seams.
I added strips to one and simple texture to the other. I worked 2 rnds st st, then* 2 rows of seed st, 4 rnds st st* to end. You can add buttons or duplicate stitch for a picture, etc. Place it on a tiny hanger from the craft store and you have a Christmas decoration.
